Boys Win at Three of Four at Tourneys
The boys basketball team won three of four games, just missing capturing the championship of the Bishop Sullivan Holiday Tournament when they could not hold an 11-poiont, second half lead over Williamsburg Christian.
Bash Townes led the Oaks with 22 points against Williamsburg while Adam Grant and Kyonze Chavis were also in double figures.
Earlier in the tournament, Collegiate defeated Life Christian 70-63.
In another key holiday game, the Oaks downed highly-rated Virginia Academy with junior Ejike Obinna, a 6-9 power forward who is being recruited by most major basketball programs including the University of Virginia, Miami, Temple, Seton Hall, and others. But Townes outplayed Obinna, outscoring him 23-17 as Collegiate triumphed 70-60.
The team is back on the hardwood at home Tuesday against Nandua in a 7 p.m. start. The girls start the fun with a 5:30 p.m tipoff.
