Volleyball Team Looks Ahead

The girls volleyball team dropped three matches last week and looks to rebound with matches at home this week on Tuesday against Peninsula Catholic and Thursday against Norfolk Christian.

The team is now 3-8 on the season. The Oaks lost in straight sets to The Steward School, Cape Henry Collegiate and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

Jones Named All-Conference Volleyball

Jones, an outside hitter, has been a leading player for the Oaks for years.

 Gina Tuzzolo of Peninsula Catholic was named Player of the Year.

Volleyball Team Drops Quarterfinal

DSC_5083The girls varsity volleyball team ended its season with a 3-0 loss Tuesday to Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.

The Oaks lost 25-18, 25-9, and 25-9.

Volleyball Team Falls to Christian

DSC_5053The girls volleyball team mounted a challenge in the second set, but ended up falling to Norfolk Christian, 3-0, by scores of 18-25, 23-25, and 13-25 at home on Tuesday.

The team is 8-12 on the season.

Spikers Tame Tallwood, Central Virginia

What a comeback.DSC_3897

The girls volleyball team dropped the first set, 21-25, to Tallwood High School, then was trailing in the second set before they caught on fire.
Led by senior Bailey Jones with 17 kills and three blocks, they came roaring back to win the second set, 25-23, and then went on to win 25-14 and 25-15 to take the match.

Joi Harper flew all over the court, converting 26 digs.  Skyler Tessler had 14 assists and two aces.


In action on Friday, the team downed Central Virginia Home School, 3-0, by scores of 25-12, 25-7, and 25-16.

The team is 6-4 on the season

Volleyball Team Opens Strong

DSC_2792The varsity girls volleyball team downed Kempsville High School, 3-1, Thursday at home led by senior Bailey Jones’s 15 digs and 12 kills.

The Oaks squad won 25-21, 25-16, and 25-11.

In action earlier this season, the team lost to Norfolk Christian, 3-0, and defeated Green Run 3-1, coming from ten points down in one match.

Jones was a consistent force for the Oaks during the season.

Volleyball Team Loses Finale

DSC_1397The girls volleyball team ended the season with a 3-0 loss to Hampton Roads Academy, dropping games by the scores of 25-7, 25-8, and 25-11.

The team finished the season with a 4-13 record.

Volleyball Team Loses Two

_DSC0633The girls volleyball team played two tough matches, coming out on the short end, losing in three sets to Norfolk Christian on Tuesday and Christchurch School on Saturday.

In the Christian loss, the game scores were 25-20, 25-13, and 25-20.

In the Christchurch match, senior Peyton Fancher had a whopping 24 assists, making beautiful sets for junior Bailey Jones, who had 18 kills.

The girls scrambled all over the court, digging balls, and prolonging rallies, but lost 25-21, 25-22, and 26-24.



Girls Volleyball Drops Two

DSC_1398The girls volleyball team dropped a pair of matches, losing to Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, 25-14, 25-17, and 25-11, before falling to Walsingham Academy in straight sets on Thursday.

The team plays at Peninsula Catholic on Tuesday, at Greenbrier Christian Academy on Thursday, and at home against Christchurch at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
