Oaks Win TCIS Title; Big Man Bash Tourney MVP

DSC_8636Norfolk Collegiate won its first conference title since 2006 and Big Man Bash Townes was named tournament MVP Saturday.

The Oaks defeated Walsingham Academy, 51-37, in a game of slowdown that had the score 18-12 with Collegiate ahead at the half.

When Walsingham refused to come out of its zone in the third quarter, the Oaks held the ball and held the Trojans scoreless in the quarter, taking a commanding lead.

Throughout the game, Collegiate played a box and one against Walsingham’s star, Richard Washington, denying him and ball and frustrating him. Jakeim Robertson and Jimmy Hurley took turns denying the ball to the big guy. He did hit a few threes late, but the game had been decided by then.
