Big Man’s Big Game Leads Oaks to TCIS Final
Bash Townes has been the Big Man since he arrived on campus four years ago. Oh, he’s big, 6-5, and a few bricks more than a load. But he’s also big when it counts, when the games really mean something.
Friday night against Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School, Townes was big in a big game. He scored 16 points, grabbed 16 rebounds, and had six assists as the Oaks overcame a 10-0 opening deficit to win, 57-42.
The team, now 24-4 and perhaps the best in school history, plays Walsingham Academy at 6 p.m. tonight at Norfolk Christian for their first TCIS title since 2006.
It’s a BLACKOUT night, fans. Wear black. Get there early. The gym will be packed.
Speaking of fans, The Treehouse nuts were in full force last night, blowing away the Bishop Sullivan contingent.
Norfolk Collegiate, ranked second in the area, and third in the state among Division II schools, defeated Walsingham in overtime in a thrilling away game during the regular season. So this will be a tight one.
Against Bishop Sullivan, Adam Grant, back from injury, popped for 16 points and six steals. Kyonze Chavis scored 15 points.
