Boys Second, Girls Strong at NSA Meet

View More:     The Collegiate boys cross country team finished second overall on Thursday at the nine-team Nansemond-Suffolk Invitational, placing three runners in the top 13 spots.
    The girls did them one better, the trio of Malia Mantz (22:53), Maddie Foster (23:24) and Claudia King (23:29) taking tenth, 11th and 12th respectively in the varsity race. Cecilia Innis ran a personal best en route to a 40th-place finish. The girls did not have enough runners to be scored in the team competition.
     Chandler Branton (19:01) took fourth for the boys, while Miles Edmond placed seventh and Frankie White 13th for the Oaks. Harrison Fuller (17th place), Matt Unrein (29th) and Parker Gross (53rd) rounded out the effort for Collegiate, which runs again on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Broadwater Academy Invitational.
    In junior varsity action, Chas LeHew (22:37) finished in seventh place while teammate Truman Skaggs (22:58) took 12th. Ryan Hodges added a 26th-place finish, while Will Frankenberry posted his best time of the season, taking 34th.
    On the girls side, Gina Leanzo (26:07) finished 12th in the JV race and Sidney Jordan was seven spots back in 19th.
