Hitters Win First of Season

DSC_6060Junior Reid Wilkinson twirled a masterpiece, surrendering only two hits and no earned runs over six innings and the Oaks downed Alliance Christian 7-2 on Monday.

Freshman Jackson Burke had two hits, two RBIs, and scored two runs to power the offense.

The Oaks hung tough in a close game before breaking it open with three runs in the top of the seventh inning for their first win of the regular season.

In action last week, the Oaks lost, 3-2, to Northeastern and 9-0 to Pasquatank High School. In the Northeastern game, Paul Mahoney, Ryan Moninger, Blake Gershon, Hunter Flora, Jimmy Hurley and Dylan Cheek had hits. Cheek pitched four innings, surrendering two earned runs while Mahoney threw two innings.
