Boys Take Two at Tourney

DSC_2992The boys basketball team won two of three at the Sleepy Thompson Tournament in Alexandria over a long weekend.

The Oaks lost to eventual runner-up Millwood from Midlothian, 57-51, Thursday, faltering at the foul line.

But they came back with impressive wins Friday and Saturday.

Collegiate trailed 40-36 at the half Saturday against Boys Latin School from Baltimore, but made key adjustments to cruise to a 78-57 win. Senior sharp-shooter Mark Madison poured in 26 to lead the Oaks while junior Bash Townes wheeled inside for 20 and wingman Keyonze Chavis added 13.

DSC_2956On Friday, Townes led the oaks past Cesar Chavez School of Washington, D.C. scoring 27 points in a 74-60 win. Chavis popped for 15 and Adam Grant added 13 for the Oaks.

The Oaks, ranked sixth in the region by the local paper, play Northeastern at 1 p.m. Friday at home and Trinity Episcopal at 5 p.m. Saturday at home.
