Runners Open Season in Newport News

IMG_20140913_110530Natalie Batzel finished 14th to lead the way for the Oaks girls, who finished fourth overall Saturday at the Bill McGough Invitational in Newport News.


Frances Boyer, who was making her cross country debut, was close on her heels at 16th. Maddie Foster finished 19th, while Claudia King – another first-year runner – followed in 20th. Timeri Jordan rounded out the effort for the resurgent Oaks, who were down three runners because of prior commitments.

 For the varsity boys, it was Chandler Branton leading the way finishing 24th overall, while Thomas Batzel, competing in his first meet, followed in 39th.  Frankie White and Jobin Chandi IMG_0816were the third and fourth runners for the Oaks.

Peninsula Catholic won both the boys and girls divisions.

The team runs at Walsingham Academy on Thursday.
