Volleyball Squad Downs Tallwood

_DSC0640 The varsity girls volleyball team got on the winning track Tuesday with a 3-1 victory at Tallwood High School.

The Oaks lost the first game 25-14, but came back from a 10-point deficit to edge the home team 25-24 in the second game before closing out the win with 25-14 and 25-21 victories.

“It’s really tough to beat a team that has five club players,” Coach Diego Fama said. “However, the girls stuck together, played fundamentally, and pulled out the win.”

Over the weekend, the girls earned bronze in the silver bracket of the Endless Summer Tournament, billed as the largest high school tourney in the nation. The team’s games were played at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Junior Bailey Jones was named to the all-tournament team.

The squad plays Friday at St. Margaret’s School.
