DSC_5194Sophomore Reid Wilkinson had a strong outing on the mound, keeping hitters off balance with a variety of pitches, but the Oaks couldn’t scratch out enough runs, falling 6-2 to defending state champs Atlantic Shores on Monday.

Atlantic Shores scored two in the first, then one each in the third and fourth innings before Norfolk Collegiate drew close in the bottom of the fourth.

Sophomore Joe Morrison reached on an error by the second baseman before junior Blake Gershon bunted for a single, putting runners on first and second with no outs. Mark Howlett grounded out to the pitcher as the runners moved up a base.

DSC_5332Then senior Cabell Thomas drilled a line single scoring Morrison and Gershon. But that was it for the Oaks, who had four hits on the day.
