Overtime Loss Ends Boys’ Season

The boys held a 55-52 lead over host Christchurch with 54 seconds to play, but the Seahorses tied the game at 57 in regulation then went on to win 72-63 in overtime.

The loss to the defending state champs ends one of the best Oaks basketball seasons in history.

Sophomore Adam Grant led Norfolk Collegiate with 22 points. Fellow sophs Bash Townes with 17 points and seven rebounds and Kyonze Chavis with 11 points, eight rebounds, and three assists also had big games.

The foul stripe proved to be the difference in the contest. The Oaks went to the line just 12 times and made nine while the Seahorses shot 33 free throws and made 23.

The Oaks ended the season 25-6.

NORFOLK COLLEGIATE: Glover 3, Grant 22, Townes 17, Anderson 8, Chavis 11. Totals 23 9-12 63.
