Oaks Win Tight One Over Norcom

DSC_2633In a close game often played at a frenetic pace, Norfolk Collegiate was tough down the stretch, defeating Norcom 82-72 Tuesday night in the Treehouse.

With the game on the line, the Oaks repeatedly went inside to Bash Townes, who was fouled again and again. Townes finished with 28 points and 14 rebounds. Kyonze Chavis was also hot, scoring 22 points and pulling down six rebounds. Adam Grant guarded Norcom’s top scorer, Troy Locke, and despite third quarter foul trouble, dropped in 19 points.

Norcom is ranked eighth in the area by the local paper while the Oaks are ranked fifth in the area and ninth among all schools, public and private, in the state by the Maxpreps web site.

When it counted against Norcom, Collegiate came through, winning the fourth quarter 27-16.
