Boys Take Tourney Title

DSC_2154Junior Mark Madison poured in 23 points and the Oaks handled Western Branch High School, 65-50, Saturday in the finals of the Bishop Sullivan Coaches vs. Cancer Invitational Tournament.

Five players scored in double figures for Norfolk Collegiate, which led by nine at the half.

Madison was named the tournament most valuable player while sophomore Kyonze Chavis, who scored ten points and had four assists, was also named to the all-tournament team.

Marcus Anderson produced a double double for Collegiate, scoring ten points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Adam Grant pitched in with 11 points while Big Man Bash Townes also had 11.

WESTERN BRANCH (8-2): Bivens 4, Johnson 13, Ribeiro 16, Warren 10, Jordan 2, Johnson 5. Totals 19 10-15 50.

NORFOLK COLLEGIATE (9-1): Grant 11, Townes 11, Anderson 10, Madison 23, Chavis 10. Totals 27 7-13 65.

Halftime: Norfolk Collegiate, 31-22. 3-point goals: Johnson, Ribeiro, Grant, Madison 2, Chavis.
