Second-Half Surge Carries Oaks to Howlett Title


Down by 10 points in the third quarter, the Oaks outscored Bishop Sullivan 29-2 to take command on the way to a 66-47 victory and the 2013 Sweetie Howlett Tournament title.

Tournament MVP and inside force Bash Townes scored 12 of his 19 points during the run while hot-shooting Mark Madison tallied 13 of his 14.

Kyonze Chavis scored 13 points while Marcus Anderson and Adam Grant, the man with the serious hops, ripped down a dozen rebounds apiece.

The Oaks, now 7-1 on the season, are ranked sixth in the area while Bishop Sullivan was ranked eighth.

Named to the All-Tournament team with Townes were Madison and Grant.
