Boys Lose in Tournament Final

DSC_1603Adam Grant and Bash Townes each scored 23 points in the championship game of the 58th annual Sleepy Thompson Basketball Tournament on Saturday, but the Oaks fell, 76-65 in overtime to St. James of Hagerstown, Md.

To earn the finals berth, Collegiate defeated host St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes 68-51 on Thursday and Norfolk Christian 74-67 on Friday at the tournament in Alexandria.

The Oaks led 30-29 at the half.

The loss was the team’s first of the season. The squad, ranked seventh in Hampton Roads, is on the court again on Tuesday at 6 p.m. against the Steward School. The girls varsity team plays at 4:30 p.m.
