Sailors Close Out Season in Annapolis

photoThe varsity sailing team finished its season at the Atlantic Coast Championship on waters off Annapolis over two days, finishing 16th in a fleet of the 18 best scholastic teams from the region.

Eighteen races were run over Saturday and Sunday with lighter winds of six to 18 knots the first day and a more blustery second day with gusts to 24 knots. Archibisop Spalding won the regatta with Christchurch School second.

Victor Layne, Darden Purrington, Dreugh Phillips, and Ellie Maus were skippers for the two Oaks boats, while Sarah Smith, Nick Baker, Daniel Vail, and Ann Burns Morrison were the crews. Layne, sailing in the B Fleet, won two races for the Oaks.
