The Oaks jumped to a lead in the first inning when Mark Howlett doubled down the leftfield line and scored on Vince Thomas’s ground out.

In the fourth inning, Hurley again ignited a rally with a walk before Howlett singled. Cabell Thomas’s walk loaded the bases before Vince Thomas reached on a fielder’s choice to score both runs when the throw was wild at first base.

Paul Mahoney made a diving catch in right field with a runner on second base in the fifth inning to preserve the Oaks’ lead.

The team plays Norfolk Academy at 4:30 Tuesday at home at the Azalea Complex.
