Hitters Fall Short at Norview

DSC_5592A furious seventh-inning rally fell short and the Oaks baseball team lost to Norview High School 7-5 Tuesday.

Collegiate entered the final frame trailing 7-1, but quickly got back in the game.

Mark Howlett walked before Cabell Thomas singled up the middle. Vince Thomas walked before Will Daniel’s single to right scored a pair. Ian Turner doubled over the third base bag to plate another run. Then Paul Mahoney singled up the middle to plate a fourth run in the inning.

But that was it for the Oaks as the Pilots came back to get two outs to end the game.

The Oaks play at 7 p.m. Saturday at the ODU’s Bud Metheny Complex on 43rd Street against Norfolk Christian in the opener of the TCIS season.
