The varsity girls soccer team handily took their opener against Wakefield, 6-1, Friday night at The Yellow Jacket Kickoff Classic at Randolph Macon Academy.

Gerogia Drinkwalter, Virginia Sanford, Madison White, Timeri Jordon, Ann Burns Morrison, and Sarah Smallets scored for the Oaks. All are underclassmen, including three freshmen and an eighth grader.

The team plays Pope John Paul and Eastern Mennonite today.

Earlier in the week, the squad lost 1-0 to Western Branch High School. Western Branch scored 30 minutes into the first half and the Oaks couldn’t answer despite a few chances late in the game.

Here is video from Tuesday’s game.
