Girls Lacrosse Team Wins First

The varsity girls lacrosse team took a solid first half lead, then withstood a second half Maury rally to win its first of the season, 11-7 Tuesday afternoon at home.

When Maury drew within two goals with about five minutes remaining, Maryliz Lentz and Virginia Marshall scored key goals to extend the Oaks’ lead.

The Oaks then held the ball for the final three minutes, playing keep-away to seal the win.

Marshall scored six times and had an assist to lead Collegiate. Sophomore Mary Elizabeth Corliss had a pair of goals.

The girls play Princess Anne at home Tuesday at 4 p.m.
