Hoops Team Advances to State Quarterfinals

DSC_4944Teddy Rich had his best game of the season, grabbing ten boards and slashing to the basket for 17 points as the Oaks controlled the game from the start and defeated Covenant School, 73-60, in the opening round of the VISAA Tournament.

Keyonze Chavis led the Oaks with 21 points, including four three-point bombs, keeping Collegiate comfortably in front during the second half. Covenant stayed in the game by hitting a slew of three point shots after the Collegiate lead swelled to 21 in the second half.

Bash Townes scored 14 points and grabbed ten boards while Brandon Self pitched in with nine points and four blocks.

The Oaks play at 5 p.m. today against fourth-seeded Middleburg Academy in a quarterfinal game on their home court, west of Washington, D.C.
