Boys Hoops Team Makes Statement

DSC_4718The Oaks made a statement Saturday at the homecoming game, defeating highly-rated Trinity Episcopal, 60-55, behind an all-around effort on both ends by the Big Man, Brandon Self.

Trinity came into the game ranked 8th in the Division I private school polls and featured a deep, athletic lineup.

But Collegiate seized control from the opening tip, led comfortably throughout most of the game, then withstood a run in the last three minutes, making foul shots when the game got close.

Self, a 6-5 senior, scored 16 points, but was most impressive on the defensive end, where The Swat Man batted away shot after shot, totaling nine blocks on the afternoon.

Bash Townes led the team with 17 points while Keyonze Chavis chipped in with 15.

Earlier in the week, the team defeated Hampton Roads Academy, 59-39.
