Big Fourth Quarter Carries Oaks to Title

DSC_3910The Oaks broke open a tight game in the fourth quarter and raced to an easy 72-54 win over Churchland High School in the title game of the Sweetie Howlett Holiday Tournament at home on Friday.

Brandon Self (dunking right) was named tournament MVP scoring 17 points, nabbing 13 rebounds, and swatting four blocks in the final.

Once again, the Oaks showed their depth. Adam Grant led Collegiate in scoring with 22 points, including two three-pointers, while Bash Townes poured in 17.

The Oaks were 22 for 23 from the charity stripe.

Norfolk Collegiate 72, Churchland 54

CHURCHLAND: Rodgers 12, Demiel 25, Hoskie 3, Trotter 6, Mock 6, Cherry 2. Totals 21 6-8 54.

NORFOLK COLLEGIATE (7-1): Glover 6, Grant 22, Rich 2, Townes 17, Self 17, Chavis 8. Totals 23 22-23 72.
