Sailors Seventh Overall at Christchurch

The coed varsity sailing team finished seventh overall during an 18-boat regatta hosted by Christchurch School on Saturday. Christchurch won the event, finishing ahead of Poquoson and Norfolk Academy.

The Oaks’ A fleet skippered by Darden Purrington and Victor Layne finished ninth overall in their fleet while the B fleet skippered by Ann Burns Morrison, Dreugh Phillips, Layne Kennedy, and Joe Morrison finished fifth overall in their fleet.

Victor Layne, with Nick Baker as crew, won two races on the day. Alexis McGurn crewed for Darden Purrington.

The squad sails in a team race Thursday at home then sails again Saturday morning, also at home.
