Girls Tennis Overwhelms Bishop Sullivan

The varsity girls tennis team defeated Bishop Sullivan Catholic High School 8-1 on Thursday behind strong performances up and down the lineup.

In doubles the Oaks team of Aja Shelton and Madison Parker won easily, 8-1, at the number one position. At number two, Sarah Mahoney and Natalie Kanter had a battle on their hands, but hung in and emerged victorious, 8-6. The Oaks only loss of the match was at the number three doubles position.

Collegiate won all six singles battles. Madison Parker at number three and Natalie Kanter at number five won easily.

Eighth grader Aja Shelton won a tougher match at the number one position, beating her opponent 6-3 and6-2.

Emily Cole fought hard at number six and pulled out a 6-4,6-4 victory.

Rachel Brodsky battled back after losing the first set 6-4, winning the second set 6-1 and then claiming victory in the third set tiebreaker 10-5.

Sarah Mahoney was the last one on the court, hitting back everything that came her way. She won 6-3, 6-4.
