Middle School Oaks Drop Opener

The Middle School boys Oaks dropped their opening game to Greenbrier Christian in the final seconds Saturday, 27-26.

After trailing for much of the second half, the Oaks took the lead with less than a minute to play after a flurry of steals and transition baskets by guards Chandler O’Connor and Charlie Seerden.

The Gators answered quickly by getting to the foul line and converting the first of two attempts to tie the game. When the second foul shot missed, they grabbed an offensive rebound and earned a second trip to the charity stripe in the final 10 seconds. The Gators missed the first try, but hit the second to take the ultimate lead, as the Oaks failed to score in the final seven seconds.
